SURPRISE!!!
Birthdays are always such a funny day for me. It's not that I mind turning a year older, age is pretty much irrelevant to me (my mentality is still 18, and sometimes my body feels 80). Its the attention that you get on your birthday, and the questions of what do you want to do for your birthday, and what you want for your birthday....not that any of those are bad...but I am such a bad decision maker and I feel on your birthday you shouldn't have to make any decisions. The day should just unfold....and it did! Unfortunately the girls had there class "Valentine Day" parties so that meant a lot of time at the school (it wasn't that bad but aren't you suppose to do something like go to spa on your birthday? Yeah right...) So I bribed my mom to come hang out with me at the school (good thing 'cuz Haley had a substitute who I don't think had ever been around 5 year olds and to add to it....5 year olds on sugar). After school we met up with Amy and Ponch and had an early dinner (nachos...not really dinner). So we head home and I couldn't wait to open up my new sewing machine (present from Mom & Amy), what a perfect way to end the day (sewing, my new obsession)...right?
Before I continue with my day, let me tell you, usually I'm a pretty intuitive person, if something is going on behind my back I will know, or at least have some inkling (like I tell the girls I have eyes in the back of my head)...well not that day! When I walked through the door it was dark (normal), but when I saw a red light aiming at me (totally not normal), I let out a scream that you could hear down the street (good thing the neighbors were concerned), there was an awkward silence and then "SURPRISE"! If you've ever been surprised like that there is this emotion that comes to you and you don't know to laugh or cry...well I opted out for crying and went into hysteric laughing.
The person behind all of this....my husband! He made the phone calls, did the shopping (because there was a full taco bar), and some how kept it all from me. Ponch, thank you for taking the time to create such a memorable birthday, thank you for making me feel special that day (the best present), and I'm most appreciative to you for always bringing fun into my life! I love you...Dawn

Snow Trip...

Our 3rd annual snow trip (can you say 3rd annual if it's only 3 times? I suppose...it just sounds so official) So every year we take a trip w/ our extended family to Shaver Lake, were not really snow people, but we definintley attempt to be. We spend our time eating good food, relaxing, and building snow runs (actually Ponch does all the building and shoveling-thank God). This is the first year it actually snowed on us (it looks pretty on TV...light, fluffy, clean....but really it's...wet and cold...but also a bit magical). Maddy broke out of her shell that weekend, she couldn't get enough of the snow run! She was out there for hours, up and down the hill, even after a huge tumble. Haley on the other hand, not so into hanging in the snow for hours, she preferred to hang at the cabin with her cousins...nothing wrong with that! And of course we had to do something to keep ourselves busy on the drive...so why not hearts!

First Scarf Order

Mad went to school today sportin' her new scarf...and I'm sure there was a little braggin' going along with it that it was handmade by her...too cute! Best little self confidence booster when you've made something yourself. So when I pick her up she gets in the car with 5 scarf orders for her friends, she tells me "I'm gonna go home have a bannana muffin and some milk and go out to the sewing room (ok she said garage) and sew my scarfs"....a little me in the making....love it!!! She sewed her scarfs and wanted to add her own little touch to it to make it original...a little felt heart (my idea...the heart..but hers to add something).
